Let us have a look at Psalm.91.4 and what truths we can find hidden in it. One of my favourite ways to look into it is by looking at the different translations of the verse. It helps us to extract the juices of what God is saying.
“He will cover you with His feathers. And under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm.91.4.niv
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are you armour and protection. Psalm.91.4.nlt
He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. Psalm.91.4.nasb
With his feathers he will cover you, under his wings you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armour. Psalm.91.4.isv
[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. Psalm.91.4.amp”
O the joys of being covered with the feathers of God! There can be no room for doubt and distrust when we find our place under His wings. He is so faithful to us. He knows what we need and all the promises He gives us are for our protection. It’s our protection from the doubts and fears that the enemy tries to hit us with.
“He who promised is faithful. ”
And again it says,
“Faithful is the One who calls you – and He will make it happen! ”
These precious promises are our guarantee from heaven that God is with us and never leaves us. But He enables us to be changed, by His faithful promises, into His very image and nature.
“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. ”
Every word that God speaks becomes our armour and it keeps us safe from the arrows of the enemy. We will be kept safe, because He keeps us safe in His rampart. A rampart was the defensive wall of a castle or walled city, typically made of stone. Jesus is our Rock and our rampart. He fortifies us and surrounds us with His wings like a shield of protection. God has given us His promises and each promise is like a feather in His wings. He will cover us with His feathers, with His precious promises.
